Boeing 747 Slides to an Unceremonious Stop – 3rd Jumbo Excursion in a Month

A Boeing 747 Sky Lease Cargo flight skidded off the end of runway 14/32 at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, after a flight from Chicago on Wednesday morning. Nathan Coleman of Canada’s weathernetwork.com captured photos and video of the jumbo jet, up to its lower cowlings in the dirt on the left side and resting on the fuselage. Before the Wright Brothers mastered the air they were accomplished bike builders and competitive cyclists. All this was brought to my attention this Spring when on assignment for Air & Space magazine, I traveled for seven days by bike exploring the history of aviation in and around Dayton, the Wright’s hometown.
